Religion is one method to practice spirituality, but is not required.
Here are a few practices I use to discover spirituality every day:
Devoting time and effort
When we are purposeful in our intentions and actions, we take full responsibility for the blessings and obstacles that life offers. Keep a daily journal of intentions and reflections. Read through your journal when you have finished it to feel gratitude for the journey of your life.
Letting go of what we can’t control
Life is uncertain and sometimes we get caught up in trying to control every aspect of it. Some things we are capable of changing, but most things unravel and evolve through time and space. All you can do is that which you can practice, leave the rest in the hands of the universe.
Practice Gratitude
Say thank you to your toes, your feet, your ankles, your knees, and your legs for helping you travel to all the places you go.
Say thank you to your hips for swaying when you feel called to dance.
Say thank you to your stomach for allowing you to digest the nutrients that sustain you.
Say thank you to your heart for pumping blood and love throughout your body.
Say thank you to your lungs for flowing breath and energy throughout your body.
Say thank you to your shoulders for the weight they often carry.
Say thank you to your throat for speaking your truth.
Say thank you to your eyes for seeing clearly.
Say thank you to your brain for allowing you to perceive this life.
Say thank you to those around you for supporting you on your journey.
Embrace Life as an Artist
This life is what you make of it, so be creative. Challenge your perspective. Nothing stays the same. Be open to all possibilities. Break habit. Be thankful for the blessings and obstacles that you encounter. Do something every day that challenges you, frightens you, and most of all, moves you.
