Listen to Mother (Earth)

The only way nature lives on - is by birth, death, and renewal.

In Autumn the leaves die, fall to the earth, and return their nutrients into nature’s course.

Did we forget this when we invented plastic?

Do we forget this when we dump plastic waste into the Earth?

How many times have we filled our car with gas while our bike sits in the garage?

Mother Earth asks society to take a second look at the way we live our lives.

She is trying to teach us how to be a good caregiver, and we have not been listening.

So she is suffering to breathe, and fire is burning through her forests.

I grew up in the early 2000s, the age of the tech savvy Milenials. Our tv commercials were cluttered with new cereal advertisements and plastic dolls at Toys-R-us. Technology has a way of trapping our mind.

Nickelodeon invented  Worldwide Day of Play (Wikipedia), an annual event designed to encourage children and parents to turn off the television and play together, especially outdoors- Initiatives like this became popular, but how much weight did it hold? As adults, do we, as a society,  go outside to practice play?

In school we recited, ‘reduce, reuse, recycle.’ I remember when I saw the recycling bin tossed in with the trash.  I threw my chocolate milk boxes in the recycling bin and just prayed for the best. I spent most days outside in the woods, but most nights in front of the TV. We must remind our children to go outside and play. To return to source, Nature.

For now we have no choice…

We must use these technological tools to help Mother Earth.

if we would just listen to Her plead.

Can we build technology to help save Her? Can we find better alternatives?  Can we go outside and breath Her air more often- listening for a solution to soothe Her forests and save Her animals?

It is not a question anymore…

It is absolutely necessary… or She will rid us from her splendor.

Mother Earth tells us to take a second look at the way we live our lives.

Use compostable products,

look for eco-conscious alternatives,

Go outside and play,

Listen to Nature,

Love Her,

Save Her.
